Terms of Use
Version 7 · effective October 19, 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and MeInTheStory for using the meinthestory.net website and the books created on it. By creating an account or receiving a book, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
1. Who we are
MeInTheStory creates personalized digital children’s books. Contact: hello@meinthestory.net.
2. Who can use it
- To create an account, you must be 18 or older and be responsible for the child in the book, or have permission from the person who is.
- You are responsible for access to your email and your Google account, which are the keys to your account here. There is no password on MeInTheStory.
3. What you get
- A personalized book in digital format: PDF and EPUB to download, plus sharing with other people by link.
- Free book: “An Adventure in the Forest” can be personalized free of charge for one child plus one brother or sister, per account.
- Each book is licensed per title and per child. Personalizing the same title for another child counts as a new book, except for the included sibling version.
4. What you can do with the book
- Read it, download it, print it at home and send it to family and friends, for personal, non-commercial use.
- You may not sell it, rent it, publish it to the general public, distribute it in bulk, or use its illustrations or text in other products.
The stories, illustrations, design and the MeInTheStory brand belong to MeInTheStory, including works created in partnership with artists, and are protected by copyright. The license above does not transfer any of these rights.
5. What you write
- The names, dedication and other fields you fill in are yours. You authorize us to use them only to create, store and deliver your book.
- Don’t write anything offensive, illegal or that infringes other people’s rights. Use only the names and information of people who would agree to appear in the book.
- We may refuse or remove personalizations that break these rules.
6. Prices, payments and refunds
Prices: the price of each book and of the complete collection is shown on the site before you buy, in the currency you choose, with taxes included. If you already bought individual books, the amount you paid is deducted from the complete collection, in the same currency. The collection includes titles released later.
Payment: made on Stripe’s secure page, by card, Pix or another method offered there. Charges in Brazilian reais require a Brazilian payment method; in US dollars or euros, your card’s bank may charge its own conversion and fees.
Delivery: the book goes into your library as soon as the payment is confirmed, ready to download as PDF and EPUB. If it’s a gift, the recipient gets a download link valid for 7 days on the date you choose.
Withdrawal and 7-day guarantee: because the book is personalized digital content delivered immediately, when you buy you request immediate delivery and acknowledge that, in the European Union, you lose the 14-day right of withdrawal once the book is unlocked. Even so, we offer a 7-day guarantee from the purchase: if the book isn’t what you expected, write to hello@meinthestory.net and we’ll refund you through the same payment method. In Brazil, this meets the right of withdrawal in art. 49 of the Consumer Defense Code. Once refunded, the book is removed from your library and the license in section 3 ends.
Coupons: each coupon is valid under the conditions stated when it is promoted (book unlocked or discount, number of uses and expiry date), once per account, and cannot be exchanged for cash. Books unlocked with a coupon or by MeInTheStory are covered by the same license as in section 3.
7. Availability and changes to the service
- We do our best to keep the site up at all times, but it may be unavailable during maintenance or because of problems with third parties.
- Keep a copy of the books you download. If MeInTheStory ever shuts down, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice so you can download everything.
8. Closing your account
- You can delete your account at any time in My Account. This immediately deletes your books and the children’s data.
- We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, letting you know by email whenever possible.
9. Liability
The books are provided for family reading. We are not responsible for uses outside these terms, or for typos in the personalization you enter. Nothing in these terms limits the rights that consumer law guarantees you.
10. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we’ll let you know by email or on the website before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.
11. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Brazilian law. If you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts where you live. If you live in the European Union, you also keep the protection of your country’s consumer laws.
